Terms of Use
Last updated: October 26, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Maru when you use the Maru app. By using it, you accept them. How Maru handles your data is in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.
What Maru is
Maru is a health companion for wellness: an AI you talk with about sleep, training and food, which adapts your plan to how your day, your week and your season are going, within a contract you write.
Maru is not a medical device and does not give medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. It does not replace a doctor, a dietitian or your trainer. Talk to a health professional before changing your training or eating if you have a health condition, are pregnant, or are unsure, and stop and get help if you feel unwell.
An AI, with limits
- Maru’s replies are written by an AI model. They can be incomplete or wrong. You decide what to do with them.
- Fixed rules review what the model proposes. Small adjustments, such as a shorter session, run on their own and can be undone; bigger ones wait for your yes; some are never offered.
- Maru is not an emergency service. If you are in danger or thinking about hurting yourself, call your local emergency number. When a message sounds like a crisis, Maru stops and shows you people who can help.
Who can use Maru
You must be 18 or older. Maru is in private testing, by invitation, and may be offered more widely later.
Your account
You sign in with Apple. Keep your Apple account secure; what happens in Maru under your account is your responsibility. You can delete your account at any time, which deletes its data as the Privacy Policy describes.
Your contract and your trainer’s plan
Your contract is yours. Maru reads it and cannot change it. You can change it, and each change waits 72 hours before it applies. If you work with a trainer, their plan is the base: Maru moves sessions and adjusts intensity, and leaves the choice of exercises to your trainer.
Your partner
If you link Maru with a partner, share only what is yours to share, and only what you are comfortable with. Each of you controls your own categories and can stop sharing at any time.
Your content
What you write, say and log in Maru stays yours. You allow Maru to process it only to run the service for you, as the Privacy Policy describes. Don’t upload other people’s data or photos of them without their permission.
Fair use
Don’t use Maru to break the law, to harm yourself or others, or to try to make the AI produce harmful content or get around its rules. Don’t try to access other people’s data, or to disrupt or reverse-engineer the service.
Price
Maru is free while it is in private testing. If it ever charges for something, you will see the price and the terms before you pay, and purchases will go through the App Store.
Availability and changes
Maru is a product in testing. Features may change, pause or stop, and the service may be unavailable at times. We may update these terms; the date at the top will change, and if a change matters, the app will tell you before it applies.
Liability
Maru is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, Maru is not liable for decisions you make based on its replies, or for indirect losses from using it.
Needs legal review: Write the warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability for each country where Maru is offered, keeping the consumer rights that cannot be waived.
Apple
If you got Maru from the App Store, Apple’s Standard License Agreement for apps also applies. Apple is not responsible for Maru or its support.
Law and disputes
[Governing law and where disputes are resolved.]
Needs legal review: Choose the governing law and venue, and name the person or company that offers Maru.
